Tips for the Spring Semester

The Spring 2017 semester is almost here! Whether you’re back for your tenth semester with SolidProfessor, or you’re just getting started, take a look at the tips below for a successful start.

Create Assignments

Students retain more material and perform better when their instructors set up assignments to direct them to relevant content. You can parse out courses from our library into small chunks of content suitable for daily or weekly lessons to guide students’ attention and track their progress and understanding. Students will also get access to Review Tests – only available via assignments – that help them gauge their progress.

Don’t just take our word for it! Ron Siebach, instructor at St. Georges Technical High School and Delaware Technical Community College, has used SolidProfessor for years and just started using assignments this fall:

“Now that I know how to set up assignments and exams, the students are taking the videos more seriously.”

Using Blackboard or Canvas? Not a problem! Find out how to integrate our assignments into your LMS here.

Understand Enrollment

Students will create their own student memberships in SolidProfessor’s online Student Store using either a credit card to purchase their membership or an enrollment key to activate their membership. They will select a class of yours in which to enroll. You can help students choose the correct class by adding a class code to your classes. Check out some fun ones from Dan Dalfonzo (Somerset Technical High School) and Dan Biskup and Anthony Tarantino (West Forsyth High School):

And If All Else Fails…

You or your students can fix most mistakes! If students enrolled in the wrong class or forgot to select one all together, you can add them to the correct class from your Admin Tools. Students can also leave a class and enroll in the correct one in the Classes section of their accounts.

Even if students create a free membership and are not part of your school, they can move their free membership to their school via the Student Store – they’ll use the same username and password they created previously. And, if students are confused, we’re always here to help:
