Content Release – SOLIDWORKS 2027 Top 10 Enhancements
October 7, 2026 · Jacob Ames

Snapshot
SOLIDWORKS 2027 introduces a wide range of new tools and workflow improvements, and SolidProfessor’s latest addition to the What’s New in SOLIDWORKS series details the Top 10 Enhancements that we’ve found to be the most impactful throughout our testing. This year includes new functionality for one of the oldest and most-used design features, a new option for one of the fundamental assembly mates, new ways to improve drawing performance, and various improvements for sheet metal, weld beads, imports, Simulation, Electrical Routing, and more – and we’ve partnered with Dr. Adi Pandzic to demonstrate all of them using his fully-featured Enduro Bike assembly. So whether you’re a brand-new user or a SOLIDWORKS veteran, there’s something worth checking out this year.
Throughout this comprehensive lesson, we compare workflows side by side in SOLIDWORKS 2026 and 2027 with and without these enhancements so you can better understand how they might apply to your day-to-day work.
The What’s New in SOLIDWORKS series will continue to expand throughout the remainder of the year, so check back often for new lessons and updates.
Lesson Highlights
Rather than simply listing new commands, our Top 10 Enhancements lesson demonstrates how each enhancement affects an actual workflow. Many examples begin in SOLIDWORKS 2026 to establish the previous behavior or limitation before showing how the same task changes in SOLIDWORKS 2027.
As an example, consider the new Chord Width option for Constant Size Fillets. Chord Width was previously limited to Face Fillets, but SOLIDWORKS 2027 makes it possible to use the option with edge selections and more complex intersections. We’ve included the workaround from 2026 and previous versions to help set the stage for how to get the most out of this year’s new and improved Fillet command.
This lesson also provides commentary on each feature for newer users who may not already be familiar with the workflows being demonstrated.
This year’s Top 10 also includes improvements across several specialized workflows:
· Create Stamps across Sheet Metal Bends
· Auto-Select for Weld Beads
· Component Instances for Parasolid Imports
· Exclude Drawing Views from Rebuilds
· General Tolerance Table Enhancements
· Interface Stress Plots for Bonded Contact
· Create Individual Part Files for Wires & Cables
· System option to control FeatureManager panel width
Who is this course for?
This course is intended for SOLIDWORKS users who want to understand the newest capabilities in SOLIDWORKS 2027 and determine which will be the most impactful for them. It’s useful whether you plan to upgrade immediately or are evaluating a future upgrade and want to see how new functionality may affect your current workflows.
Because the Top 10 spans parts, assemblies, drawings, Simulation, sheet metal, routing, and other areas of the software, the material is relevant to a broad range of SOLIDWORKS users rather than a single design discipline. Additionally, several enhancements are related to the user interface, making them applicable to SOLIDWORKS users of all experience levels.
The Top 10 is only the beginning of our SOLIDWORKS 2027 coverage. Throughout the rest of the year, the What’s New series will continue to expand with deeper lessons covering additional enhancements for sketches, features and parts, assemblies, drawings, and other areas of the software including service pack enhancements as they’re released.
Additionally, be on the lookout for SolidProfessor’s 2026 Rewind videos, where we revisit useful enhancements introduced through SOLIDWORKS 2026 service packs over the last year. Visit the What’s New in SOLIDWORKS course to start with the SOLIDWORKS 2027 Top 10 Enhancements and see how this year’s changes compare with the workflows you already know.
