The SOLIDWORKS 2026 Beta is live, and if you’re on active subscription, you can test out all the latest features and enhancements through the SOLIDWORKS Preview Program. Check out our quick walkthrough to learn how to access the Online Preview version directly in your browser (no install required), or download and install the full Beta if you prefer. Both options give you a first look at upcoming improvements before public release.

While some of this year’s enhancements likely won’t be announced until later in the year, and many others are excusive to beta testers under the SOLIDWORKS Preview Program’s non-disclosure agreement, a handful have been announced publicly in the SOLIDWORKS blog:

  • Collaboration & Data Management: Multi-version compatibility, BOM-to-PLM linking, and integrated 3D markups.
  • Drawings: Auto-generated drawings, AI-assisted view arrangement and callouts, and improved dimension line clarity.
  • Assemblies: AI-powered fastener recognition, smarter rebuilds, and better lightweight component control.
  • PDM: Vault sync, sub-folder access control, and workflow archiving.
  • Simulation: Distributed mass/force for beams, custom bolt tightening timing, and detailed connector force outputs.

This clear focus on AI-driven enhancements is consistent with the recent launch of SOLIDWORKS AURA, an AI-powered assistant that is available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform within a variety of applications.

As with previous Beta versions of SOLIDWORKS, there are a few important details to keep in mind before installing and/or using it, especially if you are working in a commercial environment.

Key Reminders:

  • Beta access requires an active subscription.
  • Never use Beta for production work.
  • Files saved in Beta are not compatible with full-release versions.
  • Always back up your files before testing.

Stay tuned for public release coverage in August, when we’ll break down all the new features and workflows in detail. Until then, consider participating in the Preview Program community, where you’re free to discuss all of this year’s features and enhancements.
