SolidProfessor Co-Founder Recognized for Union Tribune’s Latino Business Leader Award
San Diego, Calif. – February 18, 2015 – The San Diego Union Tribune has honored Pedro Santana with a nomination for their 2015 “Latino Champions” Award. The awards recognize individuals, businesses and volunteers in San Diego County and the border region. Pedro, the co-founder of SolidProfessor, has been nominated for their Business Leader category.
SolidProfessor is a San Diego based company that provides guided online learning experiences for engineers and designers. The company was inspired by Pedro’s passion for teaching and his natural ability to help others solve problems. Since starting the company 10 years ago, Pedro has helped students in over 300 schools as well as hundreds of companies and thousands of individuals to improve their design skills through SolidProfessor.
In addition to his passion for teaching, Pedro also has a passion for learning. His bachelor’s degree is in Mechanical Engineering and was recruited as an applications engineer before graduation where he taught others how to use engineering software.
Pedro is honored to be included among so many leaders in the Latino community. “I’m thankful for this nomination. This award is well represented by inspirational members of the community. It’s an exciting challenge to continue to learn, grow, and give back following the model set forth by other nominees and past award winners.”
The San Diego Union Tribune defines a Latino Champion as someone who has taken an active role in the community and has made an impact on the cultural life of the community through his or her involvement. Their 4th annual event will occur in April 2015 to bring together the Latino Champions in the community.
