SOLIDWORKS 2026 introduces in-app rendering powered by Visualize, allowing you to create photorealistic images in the graphics area without requiring add-ins or outside programs. Set your desired appearances, lighting, and background in SOLIDWORKS, then click Render to process the job using Visualize as the engine. This enhancement provides impressively realistic results using the new DSPBR appearance library and replaces the capability of PhotoView 360, which was recently retired.
Processing a render job in SOLIDWORKS and the final resulting image
Enhancement Highlights:
- Integrated Rendering: Rendering tools, settings, and output images are accessed directly from the graphics area. No additional add-ins or project setup steps are required
- Improved Consistency: DSPBR appearances for 2026 translate directly for rendering, whereas legacy appearances would often appear differently in the final output
- Rapid Iteration: Easily adjust appearances and rerun a rendering project in only a few clicks to compare photorealistic examples of different appearance combinations
An active SOLIDWORKS Visualize license is required to utilize this new render function within SOLIDWORKS. Visualize can be purchased separately, but is also included with SOLIDWORKS Professional and Premium seats on active subscription. For more information on licensing and cost, be sure to reach out to your local SOLIDWORKS reseller.
Updated DSPBR appearance library and side-by-side comparison to legacy appearances
This new enhancement allows realistic design images to be produced on demand with very short setup and turnaround time, and with a final result that is consistent with what’s seen in the graphics area. It’s a welcome improvement to be sure, but it’s just one of many enhancements included this year.
