Cut List properties can now be linked directly to drawings, notes, title blocks, and more in SOLIDWORKS 2026, allowing documentation to automatically update as design changes are made. In this 2-Minute Tech Tip, we show how properties unique to weldment cut lists such as Description, Total Length, and Cut Angle can be captured and utilized in a number of downstream operations, including drawings and even PDM data cards. This enhancement reduces the need for manual updates, which are often forgotten or made with errors.
What you’ll see in this lesson:
- How to access Cut List properties in the File Properties dialog for reuse.
- Linking a drawing note to values such as Total Length and Description.
- Automatic updating of notes linked to Cut List properties when a design change is made
Adding a note linked to a Cut List property and editing the design to prompt an automatic update
This new enhancement can improve design intent by keeping drawings and notes associated with real model properties so you can be certain you’re always seeing the latest information.
